THE BOOK OF MORMON, AMERICAN IDIOT, WICKED and More Set for Broadway Across America in Austin, 2013-14

Broadway-Across-America-Announces-2013-14-Season-in-Austin-20010101

Broadway in Austin at Texas Performing Arts has announced an amazing 2013-2014 Season with four Austin premieres and two all-time favorites.

From the creators of South Park and winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon kicks off the 13-14 Season with a limited two-week engagement October 1-13, 2013. Season Subscribers receive priority ticket opportunities to shows, so the best way to guarantee seats to The Book of Mormon is as a Broadway in Austin Season Subscriber.

In the past ten years, the Austin community has had the pleasure of experiencing over 50 Broadway touring shows live on stage at Texas Performing Arts' Bass Concert Hall, with more than 145,000 patrons attending in the 2011-2012 season alone. It is anticipated that Disney's The Lion King, now playing through February 10, 2013, will play for over 70,000 patrons. "We are pleased to continue presenting Austin audiences with the best that Broadway has to offer," states Kathy Panoff, Texas Performing Arts Director and Associate Dean. "With Austin premieres of The Book of Mormon and War Horse, the 2013-2014 Broadway in Austin Season is one of our best ever."

The 2013-2014 Season explodes into Austin featuring five show-stopping productions and a season special that "defies gravity" from October 2013 to May 2014 at Texas Performing Arts' Bass Concert Hall. The Broadway in Austin 2013-2014 Season line-up offers a five-show package with the option of adding a sixth show as a Special Subscriber Option, including:

THE BOOK OF MORMON
October 1 - 13, 2013
Winner of nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, THE BOOK OF MORMON features book, music and lyrics by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the four-time Emmy Award-winning creators of the landmark animated series, "South Park." Tony Award-winner Lopez is co-creator of the long-running hit musical comedy, Avenue Q. The musical is choreographed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw (Monty Python's Spamalot, The Drowsy Chaperone) and is directed by Nicholaw and Parker. The Original Broadway Cast Recording for THE BOOK OF MORMON, winner of the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, is available on Ghostlight Records. www.BookofMormonTheMusical.com

CHICAGO
November 19 - 24, 2013
A true New York City institution, CHICAGO has everything that makes Broadway great: a universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz; one show-stopping-song after another; and the most astonishing dancing you've ever seen. It's no wonder CHICAGO has been honored with 6 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, a GRAMMY and thousands of standing ovations. It's also no surprise that CHICAGO has wowed audiences all around the world, from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. Whether you're looking for your first Broadway musical, whether you've seen the Academy Award-winning film and want to experience the show live on stage or whether you've seen it before and want to recapture the magic, CHICAGO always delivers.

MEMPHIS
December 10 - 15, 2013
From the underground dance clubs of 1950s Memphis, Tennessee, comes a hot new Broadway musical that bursts off the stage with explosive dancing, irresistible songs and a thrilling tale of fame and forbidden love. Inspired by actual events, MEMPHIS is about a radio DJ who wants to change the world and a club singer who is ready for her big break. Come along on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves -- filled with laughter, soaring emotion and roof-raising rock 'n' roll. Winner of four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical, MEMPHIS played pre-Broadway at the La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre, and features a Tony-winning book by Joe DiPietro (I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change) and a Tony-winning original score with music by Bon Jovi's founding member David Bryan. MEMPHIS is directed by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Xanadu), and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo (Jersey Boys). Get ready to experience Broadway's most exciting new destination.
