WICKED Announces $25 Lottery Seats at Bass

WICKED-Announces-25-Lottery-at-Bass-20010101

Austin, TX—A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of $25 orchestra seats will be held prior to each performance of WICKED, playing January 25 – February 12 at Bass Concert Hall. Each day, 2½ hours prior to show time (Tuesday–Friday at 8 pm; Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sunday at 1 p.m. & 7 p.m. Additional matinee is scheduled on Thursday, January 26 at 2 p.m.) people who present themselves at the Bass Concert Hall box office will have their names placed in a lottery drum and then thirty minutes later, names will be drawn for a limited number of orchestra seats at $25 each, cash only.  This lottery is available only in-person at the box office, with a limit of two tickets per person. Lottery participants must have a valid photo ID when submitting their entry form and, if chosen, when purchasing tickets.

WICKED, with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (GodspellPippin, Disney’s Enchanted, Academy Award®  winner for Pocahontas and The Prince of Egypt) and book by Winnie Holzman (“My So Called Life,” “Once And Again” and “thirtysomething”), is based on the 1995 best-selling novel by Gregory Maguire.  The musical is directed by two-time Tony® Award winner Joe Mantello (Take Me OutLove! Valour! Compassion!, The Vagina Monologues) and features musical staging by Tony®  Award winner Wayne Cilento (AidaThe Who’s Tommy,How To Succeed…).  WICKED, the untold story of the witches of Oz, is produced by Marc Platt, Universal Pictures, The Araca Group, Jon B. Platt and David Stone.

Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood.  The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.  WICKED tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good.

Called “a cultural phenomenon” by Variety, WICKED continues to thrill audiences around the world. There are currently seven productions of WICKED worldwide: New York; London; Japan; Holland; Australian/Asian Tour; and two concurrent North American National Tours.

WICKED will play Texas Performing Art’s Bass Concert Hall January 25-February 12. Tickets start at $38.50; are available at the Bass Concert Hall box office, all Texas Box Office Outlets, by phone at (512) 477-6060 or online atBroadwayAcrossAmerica.com/Austin. Groups of 20 or more, reserve now at (877) 275-3804 or e-mailAustin.groups@broadwayacrossamerica.com. Good seating available for weeknight performances and Thursday, January 26th matinee.

Erin grew up far from Broadway in western North Dakota. After studying Criminal Justice at the University of North Dakota, she relocated to San Antonio, Texas to broaden her horizons. It was in Texas that her love for musical theater developed, having access to national productions that weren't available in her rural hometown. She supplements attending local and touring productions with frequent excursions to New York City. In addition to working for a Smithsonian-affiliated arts museum, Erin maintains Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel's website.
