WaterTower Theatre Announces THE UGLY ONE Cast

WaterTower Theatre Producing Artistic Director Terry Martin announced the cast for The Ugly One which will be performed at the 2013 Out of the Loop Fringe Festival. The cast includes Montgomery Sutton as Lette, Jeff Swearingen as Karlmann, Ted Wold as Scheffler and Natalie Young as Fanny. Directed by Terry Martin, the play by Marius von Mayenburg, will be performed at the Out of the Loop Fringe Festival on March 7, 9, 10, 13, 15 and 16.

Single tickets to all Loop events go on sale Feb. 19. Festival Passes, now on sale, include one admission to each Festival event and are $65. WaterTower Theatre subscribers receive $10 off each Festival pass. Individual ticket prices for each event are $10 and selected readings $5.

The Ugly One, by Marius von Mayenburg, is an absurd farce about identity and human beauty. Lette discovers one day what no one has been willing to tell him: he is ugly. His face is simply not acceptable and for such a man, life is not kind. His job, his marriage, and his self-esteem are all compromised by this shortcoming. But what nature denies him, medical science provides. Attractiveness, he finds, can be bought. But what happens when his looks are a commodity? And what are the consequences of giving up his face?
Marius Von Mayenburg (Moving Target, Eldorado, The Cold Child) is one of Germany's finest writers and often writes comedy and social satire about identity and contemporary narcissism.
