(Nov. 3 2:39 PM) - Extraordinary singer songwriter Brandi Carlile has announced an Austin show on the second leg of her “Give Up the Ghost Traveling Show” which will begin January 12 in Boise, Idaho and includes more than 40 cities across the country. Texas Performing Arts at the University of Texas at Austin welcomes Brandi Carlile and her Give Up The Ghost Traveling Show to Hogg Memorial Auditorium on Saturday, March 6, 2010.

(Oct. 22 5:51 PM) - Texas Performing Arts' flagship venue Bass Concert Hall has moved from number 13 (mid-year ranking) to 7 on the top 100 Worldwide Theatre Venues with 215,237 tickets sold for events between January 1 and September 30, 2009, according to Pollstar, the trade journal for touring artists, booking agents and performance venues.

City Theatre Company Celebrates One Year Anniversary of New Space

(Oct. 14 3:16 PM) - City Theatre Company will celebrate one year in its new space this year. The company was formed in 2008 and had their own space five weeks later. Andy Berkovsky, the company's Artistic Director, started the company with former student Travis Tinnin, who dropped out of NYU's drama program to act at the company's production manager.

(Oct. 14 1:39 PM) - The Horton Foote Festival will honor critically acclaimed playwright Craig Wright as the 2009 recipient of the Horton Foote Excellence in American Playwriting Award, according to notes on the Horton Foote Festival website. Amongst the events taking place during the festival weekend will be readings of Wright's plays ‘Grace' and ‘The Pavilion', academic panel discussions of his work, and a tribute to Horton Foote.
